VIPIN KOCHUMMEN
We came to the restaurant at around 8:15 PM. The menu card was given to us only at 8:30 PM. After that, we waited another 30 minutes, and someone finally came to take our order at 9:00 PM. Even after placing the order, we had to wait a long time. Our food arrived at 9:30 PM. The waiting time was too long, and the service was very bad. It was really disappointing and needs serious improvement. Food ratings: • Fried Rice – 5/10 • Tandoori Chicken – 6/10 (They did not provide salad along with it.) • Poori with Masala – 2/10 • Falooda – 7/10 Overall, the experience was not satisfactory mainly because of the poor service and long waiting time.

I went in to get lunch with my friends, there was friendly faces greeted me at the door. The service was good, and food tasted good. They have many famous South Indian dishes, and good amounts of interesting desserts and drinks. Enjoyed my time at the restaurant and will come again!! 👍👍

Visited DSalt recently for dinner and had a nice overall dining experience. They offer a good variety of South Indian options on the menu and we enjoyed it. It’s great to see such flavours available in Christchurch, and the restaurant has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for catching up with friends and family. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes from the menu!

Fantastic food and service. Staff are extremely helpful and willing to explain the menu to those a bit unsure of the southern Indian cuisine. As well as great food and service, the value was exceptional too. I would recommend D-Salt to anyone who likes Indian food with a bit of a difference.

We visited D Salt with high expectations since it was promoted as an authentic South Indian restaurant and the chefs listed in their website were South Indian. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what was promised.To start with, basic service was lacking. The Chicken Kothu Parotta arrived without salna, an essential accompaniment that gives the dish its real South Indian flavor. It felt incomplete. The Chicken Kari Dosa was another letdown instead of a proper uthappam-style dosa with minced chicken filling (keema kari), it was just a plain dosa with some generic chicken gravy inside. Kari dosa was served with sambar and chutney(Kari dosa is usually served with any non-veg gravy), the coconut chutney tasted like peanut chutney. This was neither tasty nor close to what was advertised.The biggest disappointment, however, was the "MADURAI" Mutton Sukka. Rather than the spicy, dry, and aromatic dish known for its southern spices, we were served what looked and tasted like mutton pieces mixed in a paneer butter masala-style gravy. It was overly tangy lacking the expected depth of South Indian spices.Overall, the dishes lacked authenticity, balance, and attention to detail. It’s unfortunate because D Salt’s concept has potential, but the execution and understanding of true South Indian flavors are clearly missing.
